We had a short discussion about ALS (aka Lou Gehrig's disease) this morning since the internet has been flooding with the ice bucket challenge to help raise awareness and funding for this disease.

ALS, short for Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, is a disease of the nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord that control voluntary muscle movement in the patient, with the potential of causing paralysis throughout the body.

ALS, viết tắt của Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (xơ cứng teo cơ một bên), là căn bệnh ảnh hưởng đến các tế bào thần kinh vận động dọc theo cột sống, khiến bệnh nhân mất kiểm soát cơ bắp của mình và có khả năng gây tê liệt toàn thân.
